My Algorithm For NY Times Best Seller Status

by Larry Chiang on November 14, 2013

By Larry Chiang

In short…,
Larry Chiang (@LarryChiang)
ny times bestseller = Randi Zuckerberg

Downloading the algorithm I use is impossible. It is based on

– ISBN
– sales and promo events leading up to launch
– buzz
– content popularity pre roll.
– networking parties that you aced while it had nothing to do with direct sales but you, the author, were helpful anyway
– pre-orders at online websites
– ratio of book pages to total pages for marketing plan for book
– ratio of marketing plan for book relation to marketing plans EXECUTED for book
– number of ny times editorial staff excited about your book (or at least aware of your book’s concepts)
– radio buzz.
– TV buzz. (In that order)
